I agree with the objectives of your group. After all, we have to leave a better, not a degenerated world, for the next generation.

E-Waste: Dark Side of Digital Age

These days, it's often cheaper and more convenient to buy a new PC than to upgrade an old one. But what happens to those old computers once they've been abandoned for newer models?

The refuse from discarded electronics products, also known as e-waste, often ends up in dumpsites instead of being recycled. And that means toxic substances like lead and mercury that are commonly used in these products can contaminate the land, water and air.

I hope that through this group we will help us understand the magnitude of the problem and how to solve it . The issues driving the need for Green ICT are real, and growing because ICT is both part of the problem and a key to the solution.

Hi Francis. That is an area that should concern us more, particularly environmental activist. How do we craft Green ICT policies to ensure environment conservation? Thats the challenge that is facing humanity now and we should strive to address it before it goes out of hand and turn our beautiful planet in a wasteland!!
Comment by MORENA MOHALE on July 10, 2009 at 2:10pm
Its a great honour for us to save our environment by going green, how this can impact those underprivilaged communities and realy the message to them.
