1. How a young man emulated his father to succeed in running business

Hallo group members, I would like to share this story that I read from a Tanzanian Newspaper on line and found it very inspirational. It is a rags to riches story about a 34 year old man who rose from a background full of challenges including an untimely death of his father who was also his mentor and role model to become a top entrepreneur and and IT power broker.

The story was posted 26th November 2008 by Bethuel Kinyori a journalist with The Citizen newspaper in Tanzania.

Hello Francis, thank you for the impressive work. For starters, you are supposed to manage this group to see that it works.
Since you say its for all East Africa telecentre practitioners, you should invite all these people in the region.
Encourage them to write, comment on members' blogs and to also start discussions. In case of anything else, let me know.

Wish you the best of luck
Sandra

Dear Easterners of Africa,

It is thrilling being here. But more thrilling to see others with similar energy and interests in this one place. Of course with common interests, my excitement and sadness comes along easily to share...:)

Next week 23 to 28, I will be in Mombasa. Looking for money, no, no, learning to look for money will be my agenda. This has three viewpoints for me and the telecentre community; sharing what I own, receiving what others own and putting every thing together for a new direction. And I hope to progress just in that way.

It is impressive to see the layout of the training include both internal and external tactics for getting money. The areas have been our worry for a long time. You may member the EATLFs and e-discussion attempting to find answers to achieving sustainability through internal moves. So was the East African network staff exchange and NESsT engagement with telecentre networks. But internal revenues never aimed to mute external possibilities like corporate and donor source. So the workshop explores those areas too, giving tactical moves that have worked and have been worked for over a decade.

The training workshop is the 15th in Eastern Africa of the kind run by UK's Resource alliance in collaboration with Kenya association of Fundraising Professionals. That is why my role will additionally involve sharing the experiences for the Eastern Africa telecentre family. But I know the mailing list and this specific group will be useful for sharing the daily tips and outcome. Watch on; get thrilled and share here.
