Reynald,
You idea is so exciting. Until July 1, 2009, I was the principal/director of the first virtual early college in North Carolina, or maybe the US. I created and implemented a model for the virtual school. Before I was a principal, I worked as a secondary language arts and English curriculum specialist. I now teach "How to Teach English/Language Arts Classes" for a major online university. My background, therefore, might be helpful to your group. How can I help? Perhaps I could help in the design of the classes, the content, the instructional delivery, or in how students learn online.
My online school for which I currently work teaches English as a second language and offers courses for an American diploma to all international students. My focus is on working with international students, especially with students in NGO communities.
I hope that I can be helpful in your efforts. Do you have any data to support your work thus far?

Hi there Dr. Fedock. Thanks for the heart warming comment. Your experiences and knowledge to share to the group is more than enough. It would be an honor for me to be your mentee (if you may permit). Actually, I have just started this idea of creating a group that will invite ESL practitioners/learners to co-create knowledge and develop skills to benchmark effective classroom practices. Starting from a scratch will never be difficult with you as a guru member in the block. By the way, I am running an online enhancement and ICT integration English class. Check out my site at http://sites.google.com/site/reynaldsworld/.I love to hear your comments about it. Best regards, Reynald Cacho

Reynald,

I will look at it right now. I would love to be your mentor. I can't wait to work with you.

Reynald,

Your Web site is wonderful! What age are your students? Do you teach English?

In what part of the Phillipines are you located? My neighbor is from the Phillipines, and she lived near the southern eastern coast, I believe. I will show her your Web site.

Is your Web site for teachers in your school, for teachers in the Phillipines, for students, or for teachers across the world? I tried to post a response, but I did not see how to log in.

What may I do to help?

This ia very interesting initiative, Reynald. I have experience in teaching English as a Foreign Language, mainly to Spanish-speakers (in Chile, South America), and I also worked building basic English reading and writing skills in the United States, mainly to inmigrants from different countries.
I'll start looking at my resources to share them with you. Congratulations and Good Luck with this project.

Thanks Samanmalee and Pilar. English is indeed by all and for all. Your involvement will surely help.

Reynald,

Yes, yes, yes. Our online school would like to be your penpal partner. Please let me know what you think?

Likewise, that's definitely a good idea. Penpal partnership is on. Let's get on the details.

Reynald,

Our online school begins next week, and probably the teachers will not be able to begin the penpal process for several weeks. Please send a list of the following to my Juno email account bfedock@juno.com:

1) grade levels of your students that will be penpals
2) the number of students involved in the penpal project
3) your ideas for correspondence
4) Do you think students should respond to certain topics?
5) What you think our goal should be?

More than likely, the penpals will be run through English classes.

Barbara
