I am Bhakta Raj Ranjit from Nepal, a country of Mt. Everest. As a Chairperson of Synergy Nepal, going to establish 13 Telecenters in remote areas. I am seeking supports from interested friends living any part of the world as I do have only hardware.

Dear Bhakta
You have a short question needing a long answer.a
Hardware is an important resource for a Telecenter. Since you have them, you need few other things

1. Have you Established Project Team, including mainly from volunteers ?
2. Have you selected places for Telecenters?
3. Does these places have electrucity and ocommunications ?

Please answer these and we will help you with some info

Dear Niranjan

Thanks for your kind guidance on the Valentine Day. I consider that your help is true love to all villagers of Nepal and Synergy Nepal! The following are my responses.

1. Have you Established Project Team, including mainly from volunteers ?
I have established 13 Telecenters Project Team (we have given Management Board) in respective remote villages. Each team has five to 9 members volunteers.
2. Have you selected places for Telecenters? Yes.
3. Does these places have electrucity and ocommunications ? All telecenters have electricity and connectivity of telephones. A few has already internet connection, remaining will have internet connectivity very soon.
I do have four computers, a printer, a photocopy machine, scanner, webcam, and other accessories for a telecener. Villagers/schools will provide tables, chairs, room for telecenters. They will generate operating cost like Telecenter manager, electricity, internet etc. once the telecenter will operate and or roll up.

I on behalf of Synergy Nepal is seeking support or grants for training, training materials, localization of training materials from English to Nepali cost, traveling cost, management cost, start up cost, micellaneous. Training like basic hardware, software, entrepreneurship, accounting, empowerment of youth and women.

Thanks again,
I look forward to you.
Regards,
Bhaktaraj

Hi Bhaktaraj
As yiu have setup the centers you are already one step ahead. This stage you are is is deployment of content and services. Since this is a masive job you may need to plan a project for a shoter period.

One good start to conduct a needs assesment in the communiies you setup Telecenters and come out with a scope of work to devel;op a project proposal and a business plan to approch funding agencies.e

This worked in our case,
see http://www.shilpasayura.org for a similar project that got funding from the government. They need a real case to fund. One idea for you to develop a good document with info on

1. Target community ans their issues
2. What you plan to do to change them
2. Expecrted impact from your initiative
3. How such impact is mesured

If you dont have e content in local language, it is a real issue to run telecenters.

Telecommunities Canada is holding its Annual General Assembly in Vancouver - this is one of the many events during the ICT Summit. The Summit is an event that takes place every year and brings together members of the Pacific Communities Network Association, NGOs, and government officials to debate the ways to improve access to and impact of ICT for rural communities in the province of British Columbia.

Follow the link to visit the event site complete with agenda and information about side events: ICT Summit.

Dear Niranjan,
Hi! Thanks for your kind suggestions. I do have a proposal incorporating the following your suggestions.

1. Target community ans their issues
2. What you plan to do to change them
2. Expecrted impact from your initiative
3. How such impact is mesured

At present, I need name of donors/INGOs which love Nepal and Nepali that can provide grants from start up funds, some trainings, training materials and administrative cost for the first year. Once telecenters start to function, they will be financial sufficient from the second year.
I highly appreciate you if you could provide me name and address of donors/INGOs or any announcement regarding grants for telecenters.

I look forward to you.
