About Me (biography and organization description)
About Me:

1996-1st-Jan is my starting date to work in the field of information Technology when I had been accepted as an Internet systems engineer at Sudan Telecom Company (Sudatel).
I’m one of small group of people who have substantially shared penetrating Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Sudan. I think I am an ICT professional with an excellent ability and experience to help achieving and reaching ICT goals and targets with an experience of 13 years of work in the Government, Civil Organization& Companies and Local& International fields.

About DDCO:
DDCO is established in early 2011 to tackle ICT problems in Greater Darfur which severely affected by Sudan's uneven development. This underdevelopment was known generally as an uneven development among Sudan's regions which has been the subject of scientific research by Sudanese and non-Sudanese scholars, who covered all aspects with descriptions and analysis. It is thus possible for the Sudanese to make use of those studies in order to develop substantive stances on the issues of development.

And Darfur, after its present crisis which has extensively aggravated the development situation, is now become in a crucial need to emergency and long term development projects. Some of these projects should be in the ICT which become very essential strategic issue now days.

The Objectives of DDCO are:

1. Help building each-others' institutional capacity in ICT for teaching & learning, research & community service
2. Cooperate to take advantage of economy of scale in the development, procurement and utilization of resources, goods and services
3. Develop and use ICTs to foster institutional collaboration among and between administrative and academic communities
4. Share information, skills, resources and best-practices
5. Encourage self-assessments by members and assist each other as peer-reviewers
6. Undertake activities (including consultancy services, policy research & development, advocacy, training, etc.) that would cultivate the requisite environment for wider, sustainable collaboration and networking , beginning with our immediate and surrounding communities
7. Assist each other to enhance our institutional capacities for networking, development and delivery of contents and services
8. Cultivate and share effective and useful partnerships among and between member institutions, as well as with the private sector and other relevant institutions and agencies in Sudan and the international community
9. Undertake activities to facilitate members to serve as foci for sustainable development.

My Career and Professional Objectives:

In support to the United Nations Millennium Development Goals, I aim to give a hand in bridging the digital divide by extending knowledge opportunities to people in developing countries and those with disabilities. This I think could be is accomplished through strategic initiatives and partnerships with nonprofits, businesses, government agencies, and international NGOs. Networking Academy also empowers us by supporting our professional development strategies and encouraging people inclusion and gender equality within the ICT industry.
As the global demand for skilled ICT workers continues to grow, I strive to provide innovative ways of experiences to help people succeed in virtually every type of industry, including healthcare, education, awareness, entertainment, and finance.
I aim to attain the highest level of leveraging the ICT among people especially in Darfur region, institutions, Organizations and Governments in the developing countries using professional approaches whilst exploring any opportunity to utilize their e-readiness to ICT objectives which should reflect positively in people’s life and development and in the advancements of e-Governments, e-Commerce systems, e-Learning infrastructure, etc.

Dr. Abdelmaged
We are doing two things that may be of interest to you.
The first is a UNESCO project with digital story telling for youth at http://i-am-the-story.ning.com

The second is that we are exploring a way to build safe community learning centers that all NGOs, schools and mission can use. This is a much more than a ICT Telecentre or eLearning. It involves community develop in small groups connected to an collabortive Internet community.

There is a key strategy to this. Not to train people for jobs that are not there but to train people to create jobs.
We would like to share with you what that program would look like. Perhaps it might help in some small way. Please email me at rclose@richardclose.info
