Ken Chelimo replied to Cleopa Timon Otieno's discussion Flavor of the Month of August: Telecentre programs and ICT initiatives for Persons with Disability.
"This a great idea. The telecentres for the disabled can also serve disadvantaged groups in the society like youth and women from poor backgrounds hence bridging the digital divide further. I fully support the concept."

Women Telecentres

I have been going through several articles and watching TV programmes  on the 100th anniversary of international womens day which is being marked this year. What I realized is that little is being highlighted concerning empowerment of women using new and emerging technologies mainly ICTs and mobile phones. It is imperative that women and men championing the course of women telecentres engage in the promotion of women in using telecentres to access information and gain knowledge for them to make…See More

About Me (biography or organization description)
I have been in the forefront championing the establishment of telecentre networks in Africa since 2005. I am a founder member of the Kenya Network of Telecentres (KenTeL) along with Cleopa Timon Otieno the CLC Coordinator for Anglophone Africa. By championing the telecentre course in Kenya I strongly feel that it is only way to empower local communities by gathering and sharing knowledge for socio-economic development. My ambition in future is to establish strong regional and global networks hence making the telecentre communities sustainable and more active.
