About Me (biography and organization description)
I'm a researcher on ICT and its impact on society and development. In 2005, I conducted a research study on viable business models for Philippine community telecenters, together with Mr. Joel Umali, for the Center for Research and Communication (CRC), with funding support from IDRC-Canada. Since then, I've been participating in consultations and forums on universal access initiatives in the Philippines, including the Philippine CeC Program.

Currently, I work as a research consultant to the Asian Development Bank (ADB), conducting an assessment of its ICT4D initiatives and ICT development policies of developing countries in Asia. I'm also principal researcher for two ICT for democracy research projects---one on the use of the Internet as an emerging tool for election campaigns under a grant from the Philippine ICT Research Network and the other on blogging as an alternative mechanism for political participation among Filipinos under the SIRCA grant program, both funded by IDRC Canada.
Areas of interest/expertise and types of services provided:
Universal access: telecenters, telecom and ICT policy and regulation (political-economy approach).

ICT and development: ICT applications for developing countries, rural areas, underprivileged communities

ICT and democracy: ICT and its role in elections, political participation, political attitude

Dear Madam marry grace,
How are you?
We are, the Society for rural education and livelihood promotion of India is a registered non-profit organisation (Real India NGO). The basic mandate of Real India is to impart a pro-nature, pro-poor and pro-women orientation to a job-led economic growth strategy in rural areas through harnessing science and technology for environmentally sustainable and socially equitable development. We are planning and research in the Coastal Systems Research, Biodiversity and Biotechnology, Eco technology and Sustainable Agriculture, Reaching the Unreached, and Education, Communication, Training and Capacity, Building promotion of sustainable livelihoods, Conservation and enhancement of natural resources as well as information and skill empowerment.
In response to the need for a coordinated international effort on development and knowledge-sharing, Real India (NGO) has planning to establish an extensive network with its Research for Development partners. The networks will be facilitated through the Fund’s Development programmes, which supports international, regional and sub regional institutions and centres of excellence on thematic issues, technology development, piloting of innovative pro-poor activities of operational relevance to the new interventions and projects.
Real India seeks partners including the donor partners who would be like-minded, pro-people and who believe in potentiality, skill and experience of people. They would work in network for empowerment and holistic development of the poor people.
I hope you will participate and share with us!
With best regards,
Santharam- secretary
Society for Rural Education and Livelihood Promotion of India,
