Information communication technology (ICT) has the potential to contribute vastly to the development of a country and in particular via its impact on rural communities. It is under this ethos of taking technology to the masses that the Sarvodaya- Fusion Mobile 4D unit embarked on the Smart Village initiative which provided access to smart phones to select rural communities in the country with particular emphasis on relevant practical applications of the technology.
Pursuant to the…

The fact that mobile phone ownership is rapidly increasing around the world is no longer shocking. Exciting at first because, unlike most technology trends, this unprecedented rate of proliferation is being driven by demand from the developing parts of the world, this fact is now raising fewer eyebrows. At the moment, the immediate question on most…

Rudi Rusdiah said… Dear Yapa, Thank you for the reply.
Last year I entered a telecenter in the database that I helped to set up in hinterland of East Kalimantan for the Lundaya tribe.
There are thousands of telecenter already there, but when I would like to search (using country or telecenter name) to check if the telecenter that i have entered already there... cant find. The Telecenter is 'Long Bawan Wardes' in Indonesia. By the way my brouwser is Firefox version 11.0 I dont think there is problem with the browser.
Rudi Rusdiah said… actually i give up... tried to fill in an telecenter network but cant find in the telecenter map (http://global-maps.telecentre.org/view/national.php ) and i cannot connect telecenter to the network created ? why? see banten and west java network (http://global-maps.telecentre.org/list/viewnationalnetwork.php?id=94 )

Boying (Teresa) Sun said… Hi Sue,
Thank you so much for adding me. ;)
I'm now trying to apply a small amount of fund to build a computer lab in a rural school, in Kurunegala city, Sri Lanka. Since you are an expert in Sri Lanka ICT implementation, I was wondering that whether you can tell me some organizations in Sri Lanka that I can particularly focus on for grants application and project implementation?
Thank you so much!

We are looking at a very large scale project to train over 1,000,000 people with Computer Society of India. It is call Community Development Digital Literacy program. What is unique about it is that it educates community leaders and business on why ICT resources and collaboration will help them grow. In addition this is built int oa Ning community with all the ground training material available to all NGOs/Telecenters.
Attached is a copy of the proposal. We just need a littel development seed funds. Any ideas? Shri Lanka is a target country.
If we build this every Telecentre on this site will have the five workshop training materials.
You can see our work at http://i-am-the-story.ning.com
