- Vivien Chiam worked as Partnership and Communications Manager at the International Development Research Centre’s (IDRC) Singapore Office for about 15 years. She resigned in October 2010 and is now a private consultant. At IDRC, Vivien pioneered IDRC’s programme to build the resource mobilization capacity of Asian research institutions who were IDRC research partners, aimed at helping them be more sustainable. In that programme, together with her Partnerships Division colleagues, she organized training workshops and helped develop suitable training tools for the research sector. Prior to that position, Vivien was in various administrative and management positions at IDRC for more than 12 years.
Vivien has served on the Executive Committee of the Singapore Business and Professional Women’s Association since 1991, and at the start of the Internet era, she also co-founded the Singapore Women and Technology interest group in the Association. She is currently a new media champion at her local Community Club’s Women Executive Committee, experimenting with using new media to reach out to the communities.
Vivien Chiam has a Master’s degree in Business Administration and is a Chartered Marketer.

Just downloaded your Resource Mobilization Guide and it's a wonderful 'new resource' in itself, aand an important input to the Telecentre movement as its relevance in the Difital Society continues to evolve, to grow in importance. Your Guide is very readable, very clear and concise. It's also a great conclusion, an appropriate end result to your recent excellent series of conversations on the subject with the global Telecentre audience. I am sure it will be an inspiration for many, just as it has been for me. Richard
