Networks with a purpose e-conference

I post here my contribution to the Africa Network with a purpose e-conference that is currently being facilitated by UgaBYTES. My post reflects my own fears that much as the telecentre is a wonderful initiative, Africa seems not to harness it the way other continents seem to be doing.

Workshop on the Consolidation and Expansion of the ESCWA Knowledge Network in Syria

Why "real men" don't use telecentres in the Philippines

In the Philippines, men and women use the Internet differently, and telecentres are perceived to be mostly female spaces. This was revealed in a study conducted using the Association for Progressive Communications’ Gender Evaluation Methodology (GEM) in two rural telecentres in the country namely Bato, Leyte and Binalonan, Pangasinan.

Telecentre networks both on regional and national levels have helped increase the ability of Telecentres and Telecentre Communities to speak out about issues.
