[Telecentre Europe crosspost] Towards a transformation of Telecentres into Social Innovation Centres

A month ago I assisted a Meeting about the Future of Telecenters among Spanish Telecentre experts, held at Barcelona. My wrap up of the meeting raised quite a lot of reactions at the Telecentre Europe commmunity site, so I am resuming & crossposting it here to enable you to jump into this interesting discussion!

The meeting discussed ideas like moving to 'Open Social Innovation Centres' and start training people on 'Innovation Literacy' next to 'digital literacy', enabling them to become social entrepreneurs by teaching them how to write a 'Projectum vitae' instead of only a 'Curriculum vitae'.

Telecentre Europe community members pointed though that what might be a good example for a certain country or community, shouldn't necessary be the best model for another one - as Loreta Krizinauskiene (Lithuania) and Ian Clifford (UK) stated.

Another futuristic idea was to work on the merge of the local tourist infopoint with the local telecentre, which was embraced by Roger Harris who pointed to the work of Asian Encounters and the fact that Rural telecentres can be a very effective marketing tool for community based tourism.

New challenges for the future means the development of new needs for capacity building of telecentre facilitators but Stéphanie Lucien-Brun emphasized that telecentre facilitators are already expected "to provide adequate answers to an increasing wider spectrum possible of people and many of them are faced with the need to adapt to increasingly complex demands." She also announced a promising conference on these issues, taking place in Corsica, France on 19-20-21 September 2011.

Another idea raised during the meeting was a switch to 'web 2.0 literacy training' as companies seem to be in demand for new professional profiles arrising from the new web 2.0 environment.
Telecentre Europe's community members are curious  to hear about the model your telecentre is evolving to...
What are your ideas, thoughts, reactions around the Future of Telecentres?
You can join the discussion underneath this blogpost, as I will further facilitate the discussion & refer to your reactions at the original discussion at Telecentre Europe.

thanks lize

i think telecentres are flexible tools and they can easily transferred in  innoviation social ... in Sudan we start with the normal training and capacity building and we moved to knowledge telecentres where we work on e-services projects (e-agriculture,, e-learning ,, e-inclusion... we start now to develop these telecentre to an investment telecentres without changing our objective to sustain our telecentres. http://gedaref.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&i...
