Resource mobilisation, its all about relationships

The workshop on capacity building in resources mobilisation for telecentre.org partners is underway. It is attended by key telecentre networks in Asia with supported from telecentre.org. It is nice to see old friends… and working with Rich Fuchs again. When he is a telecentre crowd, you expect passion and soul-searching exercises. This wasn’t any exception. For instance this time, he reflected on how far telecentres have come and development challenges and his passion for mobilising resources. In the world where food prices have short-up and economic slow down pre-occupy public debate what is the place for telecentre? Rich challenged us to rethink the role of telecentre networks in as public debate shifts day-by-day.

I had heard a lot about Major General Sandhu and his motivational speaking abilities on fundraising. I therefore looked forward to his presentation and of course, didn’t disappoint. He Explained that it’s a management process to build relationships – the stronger the relationship the better the chance and bigger the resource mobilisation outcomes. He challenged telecentres networks to learn to communicate, motivate and facilitate giving. He reminded us that “people give because they are asked”…and motivated to give.
