Last September 3 and 4, representatives of the Telecentre.org Foundation, Telecentre-Europe and the Community of Telecentre Networks Association of Spain met in Granada to plan for the staging of the 4th Global Telecentre Forum that will take place in May next year at the Granada Congress and Exhibition Centre.
While in Granada, the delegation led by TCF Executive Director Miguel Raimilla, also met with the government representative to the Board of Andalucia, Hon. María José Sánchez Rubio, who expressed support for the upcoming event and also noted that Granada will be holding its millennium celebration in 2013.
The Forum is a bi-annual event that provides technology leaders and telecentre advocates and practitioners from around the world with the platform for sharing knowledge as well as the opportunity to discuss issues surrounding the main theme and explore new and better ways to harness telecentres as agents for social development.
The Forum was first held during the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) in Tunisia (Africa) in 2005, which also marked the launch of the telecentre.org program. In succeeding years, it was successfully hosted in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (Asia) in 2007, and in Santiago, Chile (Latin America) in 2011.
Watch this space for the further updates on the Forum.
