Community IT Training (CITT) program participates in Khareef Salalah Festival 2012 – Sultanate of Oman.


CITT team, under the Digital Society Development Division (DSDD) pleased to announce the completion of Community IT Training (CITT) program during the Salalah Khareef festival July 2012. This year, the program was unique, we have focused on giving the opportunities to the children as well as adults. Mainly there were 2 main programs. One was for the childerns and the other for adults.


Children’s program took place in Salalah for 3 weeks. The GCompris program or “فهمت” is an open source software used for the first time by CITT program and in Salalah. Faheemt is a child educational application that provides various activities such as computer discovery, algebra, science, games and many others for children aged 2 years to 10 years. 120 child were trained on one of amazing open source software. open source team are happy to share the link of the software http://gcompris.net/-ar-.

Adult’s program took place across nine locations. The Digital Literacy (DL) training was delivered to the citizen in Hasik, Hadbin, Soub, Madint al haq, Tagah, Maitan, Mathai, Demeet and Sarfeet. 605 citizens benefitted from DL program. CITT participates every year in the Salalah’s Khareef Festival by providing free digital literacy training programs for the public in different regions and thru 19 Community Knowledge Center CKC scattered all over the regions. Since the CKC/Women CKC and other community development projects were established, around 25,000 citizens have been trained in DL.
