Use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) has steadily increased worldwide, making the telecentres constitute one of the most powerful tools for the development of individuals and communities in various regions. The importance of supporting the work of telecentres is undeniable, but how to effectively support the work of telecentres?

On recent years, enbolivia.com has been making several contributions to promote the integration and improvement of work of telecentres in Bolivia, an example of this work is the design of the National Network of Telecentres for Bolivia, a project that was jointly conducted with the Red TICBolivia, member of the International Institute for Communication and Development (IICD)

The greatest contribution enbolivia.com made to date regarding telecentres work was the development of the “Bolivian Map of Telecentres”. The implementation of this tool proved to be very successful, it quickly became the largest registry of telecentres in the country, over 300 telecentres had registered in less than a year and are able to communicate more efficiently with this tool

It was because this background that the IICD hired enbolivia.com  to develop the “Global Map of Telecentres”. This tool has the potential to become the largest database of telecentres worldwide, through this tool you can see through Google Maps the exact geographical location where telecentres are located in rural areas of countries in which IICD is present: Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Ecuador, Ghana, Jamaica, Mali, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.

The map provides the ability to locate exactly the telecentre, it also shows the most important features of it. It has information on the geographic location, connection type, provider, responsible institution and contact details. The list of telecenters can be filtered by region, type or institution, the telecentres are searchable and the visitor can see the information through a georeferenced map based on Google Maps.

Nowadays, the map of telecentres of Bolivia is integrated into the system "Global Telecentre Map", as well as maps of other countries (also integrated) they are now part of a larger initiative. To date we have registered more than 600 telecentres worldwide and is expected to register the new ones as they are implemented. The map can be viewed at the following link www.telecentremap.org
