Galing Pook Foundation recognizes Upi CeC

The municipality of Upi, Maguindanao, thru its Community eCenter (CeC), was recognized as one of the top 10 outstanding local government units (LGUs) awarded with the Galing Pook Awards for "exemplary programs on health, education, justice and community building".

Upi was recognized for its efforts in utilizing its CeC to provide its community with vital access to information and communication. Since its establishment in 2004, Upi CeC has provided vital information and communication technology services to a a municipality, which beforehand, had access to neither telephone nor mobile carrier services. It should also be noted that the Upi CeC is one the first CeCs to be established under the eLGU program.

It should also be noted that Upi was recgonized by the PhilCeC program as one of the finalists of the 2nd Philippine CeC Excellence Awards.

A total of 137 entries were evaluated by the Galing Pook Foundation for the awards.
