The Philippine Community eCenter is one of the triumphant winners of the recently concluded eWorld Forum 2012 Awards, a program which seeks to recognize excellence in the adoption of technology in the process of governance.
A national digital inclusion program focused on establishing Community eCenters as shared facilities to bridge digital divides, the program bagged the Telecentre Initative of the Year category. This category recognizes outstanding organizations demonstrating "extraordinary effort, innovation, leadership and excellence in the use of digital technologies to support community, economic, educational and social development."
The strength of its partnership and network, its dynamic community of partners and stakeholders, the open communication between management and beneficiaries as facilitated by knowledge exchange conferences, and most of all, its success in merging together a number of diverse CeC initiatives under one national vision were the key factors which set the PhilCeC Program apart and ensured its victory.
"Thanks to all for your continuous support. Our collective efforts have paid off," said Cheryl C. Ortega, head of the PhilCeC Program Management Office. "May we continue to use our energies to make a difference and go on further."
The award ceremonies was held on June 15, at the La Meridien Hotel in New Delhi.
