SUDAN Telecentre (ICT),, Gedaref digital city organization (GDCO) will stand up on 16th and 17th against poverty

On Friday 16th October
In Sudan particularly in Omshagara and many of Gedaref mosques and Khartoum north Gedaref Digital City organization (GDCO SUDAN) will stand up against poverty celebrating the International Food Day organized by FAO where GDCO asked many of the mosques speakers to deliver speech on Friday prayer 16TH OCTOBER about poverty and how we can contribute to reduce it and how we can stand up together to eliminate it.

On Saturday 17th October
Gedaref Digital City Organization (GDCO) is organizing a forum with Gedaref State Farmers Union and the ministry of agriculture in Gedaref state and its partners,,, GDCO is going to deliver speech showing its effort in poverty reduction with its partners.
1- e-agriculture project
This project is targeting increasing the quality and quantity of crop production. GDCO will speak about its e-agriculture project. This project is a public private partnership (PPP) which objectives are to improve agriculture through ICT to achieve the 8th MDGs. The project is the winner of information for development awards 2009 in e-india2009 for civil society initiatives.

2- Launching Gedaref state farmer union portal and opening the farmer's information centre
This is the biggest project for the efforts of Gedaref farmers to improve agriculture in Sudan. The internet website (portal) will include many tools to achieve these goals. The best thing is the integration of the farmers in this partnership. The information centre will contain the database of the farmers in Gedaref state which is already implemented by GDCO in Gedaref mechanized corporation.

3- Added value projects
Population in Gedaref is 1.348.378 (almost more than 95% are farmers or associated with the farmers) so they are going to use other GDCO project e.g. telemedicine which help poor people to be treated over the internet and reduce poverty. Another projects for people with special needs (95% are poor) who will be included in the community through ICT. Generally capacity building is a big project in GDCO which also eliminate poverty and GDCO has a brilliant project in e-education which has a great effect on poverty

4- The government of Gedaref, political leaders,, civil society organizations, community leaders and farmers leaders will sign a charter for poverty elimination at the end of the forum.
