TCF bares 1st Global Telecentre Awards semifinalists

After the initial evaluation of entries by a select panel of judges, Telecentre.org Foundation is happy to announce the top 3 semifinalists in each of the 6 categories. Below are the semifinalists per category:

Telecentre Category

Telecentre Manager Category

Telecentre Network Category

Telecentre Innovation Category

Telecentre Initiative Category

Information Access Center Category

Based on a given set of criteria, the above entries were shortlisted from a total of 261 entries received. The semifinalists will then undergo final evaluation by a different set of judges to determine the grand winners for Best Global Telecentre, Best Global Telecentre Manager, Best Global Telecentre Network, Best Global Telecentre Initiative, Best Global Telecentre Innovation and Best Information Access Center.

“We are overwhelmed by the positive response from the global telecentre community. We wish to thank everyone who participated and supported the Awards in one way or another. Special thanks to all the judges who took time off from their busy schedules to help us determine who should make it to the finals,” says Tess Camba, TCF’s Director of Operations and Chair of the Awards Committee.

Meanwhile, as part of the competition, all semifinalists will be subject to a public voting by members of TCF’s online communities in 5 languages – English, Spanish, Arabic, Russian and French. Online voting will commence on April 15, 12am GMT, and will end on May 15, 11:59pm GMT.

The semifinalist with the highest number of votes in each category will be declared the Global Community’s Choice for that category. However, the results of the online voting will not in any way affect the final judging process.

Watch out for further announcements on how to vote for your favorite entries.

Iam not agree with telecenter manager semifinalist. All applicants have the same story begin with few computers & teach community computer knowledge.
Is this the ultimate goal of a telecenter? No.Beyond the IT literacy there are much more to do ICT for community development. For that, telecenter manager should have vast knowlege on ICT for development and management skills. In that case judge pannel had paid slippery attention on them.Never attention on professional knowledge & experience on the applicants. If someone argue that telecenter only to train IT literacy he or she has no idea on ICT for development.
Therefore it is your responsibility to evaluate any competition with broad perspective rather watching teledrama story.Thanks.
