Dr. Akhtar Badshah, Chairman of Telecentre.org Foundation (TCF), was named this year’s Global Hero by Global Washington (GlobalWA) in an announcement made last November 14. Awarding ceremonies will be held during the GlobalWA’s 6th Annual Conference to be held on December 3.
The Global Hero Award is given to an outstanding leader from the state of Washington who has contributed significantly to global issues and made a great impact in the world.
Dr. Badshah is widely recognized as an expert on philanthropy, corporate social responsibility, and international development, with over 30 years of experience. As former Senior Director of Microsoft Citizenship and Public Affairs, he led the company’s global philanthropic efforts, administering their global community investment and employee programs. He is also an author and an artist, and he sits on the Board of several other organizations such as the Council on Foundations and the US Chamber's Corporate Citizenship Center.
GlobalWA is an organization that supports the global development community in Washington state that is working to create a healthier and more equitable world. Its annual conference is well known and well respected for convening the international development community in the west coast. Participants include NGO practitioners, corporate sustainability executives, research experts, philanthropists and others working on global issues.
