Telecentre.org Foundation (TCF) is partnering with Intel Corporation and Ashoka Changemakers® to promote their global competition: She Will Innovate: Technology Solutions Enriching the Lives of Girls. More than $30,000 in cash and in-kind prizes will be awarded to the best and most innovative solutions that equip girls and women with new digital technologies—enabling them to live healthier, smarter and more meaningful lives.
“We are pleased to be a partner of this competition,” said Tess Camba, TCF Director of Operations and lead for the Telecentre Women: Digital Literacy Campaign, a joint initiative between Telecentre.org Foundation and the International Telecommunication Union, which aims to provide 1 million women with digital literacy training. “We believe that what Ashoka Changemakers and Intel hope to accomplish with She Will Innovate is in line with the work that we have been doing for the Telecentre Women campaign”. [More information on the competition can be found at http://www.changemakers.com/girltech].
As a Content Partner for She Will Innovate, TCF will curate ChangePulse on July 23-29, 2012. ChangePulse is a conversational space that brings together thought leaders, innovators and enthusiasts to share experiences and ideas about how technology can enrich the lives of girls and women.
As a curator, TCF will facilitate the sharing of blog posts from distinguished telecentre.org community members on the topic of women and technology. TCF will also engage the efforts of Dr. Melinda Bandelaria from the University of the Philippines Open University to serve as a Thought Leader for the Speak Up space. From July 23-29, Dr. Bandelaria will be available to answer questions and comments posted here.
Finally, TCF is inviting everyone to join a Twitter-based #SocEntChat on August 1, 8:30 a.m. GMT (4:30 p.m. PHT). #SocEntChat is a real-time, Twitter-based discussion about women and technology. To join, just log in to Twitter at 8:30 a.m. GMT on August 1 and follow the conversation via the #SocEntChat hashtag. To join in the discussion, use the #SocEntChat hashtag to make your comments visible in the stream. To send a question, send a tweet to @changemakers without the hashtag (to keep them out of the stream) so they can be considered for this conversation.
