The BSNL has been approached seeking adequate mobile connectivity on the Indo-Bangla border in Meghalya, according to Chief Minister D D Lapang. Lapang discussed problems of mobile connectivity, broadband connections and telephony in the border areas at a meeting with senior BSNL officials here last evening, officials said. The newly introduced SIM information system by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has revealed dishonesty in the sales of mobile SIMs. Dozens of subscribers of various mobile companies told reporters that the franchise centres of mobile companies had misused their national identity cards and SIMs had been issued to people on their cards. AT&T Inc. announced Wednesday (October 21) its contribution of an additional US$25,000 to Télécoms Sans Frontières (TSF), the France-based organisation specialised in providing emergency telecommunication, facilitating the coordination of aid efforts in the wake of disasters.
